SciWorks: Explore, Discover, and Learn! Guide

SciWorks is a hands-on science museum and environmental park located in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It's a fantastic destination for families, students, and anyone curious about the world around them. With interactive exhibits, a state-of-the-art planetarium, and a beautiful natural setting, SciWorks offers a fun and engaging way to learn about science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). SciWorks doesn't have a long, storied history like some museums, but it has evolved significantly since its inception. It began as the Nature Science Center in 1964, focusing primarily on natural history. Over the years, it expanded its scope to include more interactive science exhibits and eventually rebranded as SciWorks to reflect its broader focus on STEM education. The planetarium was added later, enhancing the museum's offerings and providing immersive experiences. Visitors to SciWorks can explore a wide range of exhibits, from physics and chemistry demonstrations to exhibits on the human body and the natural world. The planetarium offers shows on astronomy and space exploration. Outside, the environmental park features walking trails, animal habitats, and opportunities to learn about local flora and fauna. Special events and programs are held throughout the year, including science camps, workshops, and lectures.
